RIDGELAND, Miss. (Dec. 22, 2023) – C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, has invested $30 million on wireless network enhancements to more than 230 cell cite locations across Mississippi in 2023. “We are dedicated to boosting, enhancing and increasing our network speed and capacity as technology advances,” said Alan Jones, chief network officer for C Spire. “Our investment across the network is exceeding the needs of our customers today and in the future.”
During 2023, C Spire deployed network upgrades to 238 cell site locations which expanded 5G and enhanced LTE capacity and coverage while also adding small cells in key areas across the state. These enhancements allowed for increased speeds for browsing and streaming media for customers in areas where usage continues to grow.
In December, C Spire technicians completed an extensive enhancement to the Interstate 55 corridor through central and northern Mississippi. The 12 new sites have strengthened the network along a 125-mile section between Canton and Batesville Mississippi.
C Spire also answered the call to provide additional temporary support for its customers and neighbors throughout the year, including added coverage at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Facility in Jackson during the city's water crisis, as well as areas of Rolling Fork and Amory that were affected by powerful tornadoes March 24.
